Mua'viyah ibne Yazid was not on the line of his father and only spent a short time on the throne. From the little I have read he was a decent person who was disgusted by the actions of his corrupt daddy.

But what about the verse regarding the cursed tree ? Isn't there a contradiction here? A member of shiachat told me everyone who descendents from the Bani Ummayah is cursed including Syedna Umar bin Abdul Aziz (ra). Naozbillah !

Here is the verse
017.060
Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an: We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!
On shiachat the user gonajaf has told me that this verse includes all the members of the Bani Ummayah. Then I asked him what about Syedna Umar bin Abdul Aziz (ra) ? He replied that it included him to because he didn't allow Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) to take his position.

Brother Abdaal, forgive my ignorance but I've never before seen this verse associated with bani Ummayah, that is a first for me! I will check tafseer I have at home insha'allah but I don't remember seeing it as such.
Brother Umer, I don't know if Mu'awiyah ibe Yazid had any 'relations' with ahlulbait (as), I think not but do know he was distanced from his fathers stance.

Brother Umer, some reference for Yazid's son:
After his (Yazid's) death, Muawiyah the second gathered the people on a well
known day. He stood in front of them preaching, he said:
"My grandfather Muawiyah stripped the command from those who deserved
it, and from one who is more justified of it, for his relation to the
Messenger of Allah and his being first in Islam, and that is Ali Ibn
Abi Talib, he (Muawiyah) took over it by your help as you are fully
aware."
"Then following it my father Yazid wore the command after him, and he
did not deserve it. He quarreled with the son of the daughter of the
Messenger of Allah, and by that he shortened his own life... He rode
his whim and hope left him behind." Then he cried and continued:
"Surely, the greatest problems of us is our knowledge of his bad
behavior and his awful ending, and that he killed the progeny (Itrah)
of the Messenger of Allah, and he permitted drinking alcohol, and he
fought in the sanctuary of Mecca, and destroyed the Ka'ba."
"And I am not the one who is dressing up for your command, nor the one
to be responsible for your followers... You choose for yourselves..!!"
- Khulafaa al-Rasool, by Khalid Mohammed Khalid, p531 (The above quote
includes author's punctuation.)
- Sawaiq al-Muhriqah, by Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, end of Ch. 11, pp 336.

I must say brother Umer that sadly, this is unlikely to happen in Pakistan. If you travel to Europe/US most shiah mosque/centres have nothing to do with the Pakistani style. i.e. no zakiirs, no melodrama etc. Except the die-hard Pakis.
The few who stand up to the nonsense some zakirs and so-called alim say on stage are soon outnumbered by the majority who accuse the poor man of turning into 'wahabbi'.
The tragedy of Kerbala is worthy of remembrance but some shiah have turned it into ritual and drama, I can't see it changing any time soon :(
May Allah (swt) guide us all to the Light and the Truth of Islam and understand the noblility and sacrifice of aale-Rasool http://islamic-forum...tyle_emoticons/default/image008.gif.

Here is the 12r reference for this verse.
Imam Mohammad al Baqir a.s cursed Omar ibn Abdul Aziz in an infamous saying (mentioned also in one of the books of ayat modaressi):
"If he (Umar ibn Abdul Aziz) is lenient to us that does not make him righteous, the fact that he is sitting on an usurped / cursed seat and knows its actual holders, makes him as cursed (like others)."
